Archbishop Kim chosen to lead KCRP

Archbishop Hyginus Kim Hee-joong of Kwangjuhas been appointed the new president of South Korea’s main inter-religious organization. The archbishop was elected yesterday by about 100 delegates from Korea’s seven main religions at the Korean Conference on Religion and Peace’s 26th annual plenary. The role of religion is very important in fostering cooperation, communication and harmony in society. Religious people should understand other religions and find common ground through sincere dialogue,” Archbishop Kim said after his appointment. Archbishop Kim has worked toward improving Christian unity and inter-religious harmony since he became president of the Korean bishop's Committee for Promoting Christian Unity and Inter-religious Dialogue in 2005.
