The sculptor of Faisalabad

Yaqoob Masih is one of the most controversial and polarizing artists among Punjabi Christians for one reason: he makes Christian statues.

Together with his family, the 53-year-old has been making religious sculptures for four decades in Warispura, a Christian suburb of Faisalabad city in Pakistan. His creations sell like hotcakes in the four bookshops of the Daughters of St. Paul around the country. Many of his pieces can be seen in rural parishes.

Yet Protestant pastors say he is a sinner who promotes idol worship. They advise him to repent and baptize again.
