Brother Lucio Beninati, an Italian Catholic missionary from the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME), and five volunteers set up Pothoshishu Seba Sangathan (Street Children Service Organization) in 2007.
The voluntary initiative seeks to help vulnerable street children.
Six days a week it runs street schools at various locations in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka and in the northeastern city of Sylhet.
More than 12,000 street children have been given a basic education and had access to medical services through the initiative.
