A multipurpose cooperative is thriving in Manila's impoverished Smokey Mountain through recycling and other profitable enterprises, says this Asian Develompent Bank video. A nongovernmental organization called Sustainable Project Management, aided by a grant from the ADB's Poverty and Environment Fund (PEF) has helped the cooperative set up a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), which was built by residents. Trash separators work as a team and are paid by the kilogram, dividing the take equally.
