Every year Mariamabad village in Punjab province becomes a destination for devotees from all over Pakistan.
Visitors queue for hours to pray at the national Marian shrine. Many light candles or incense sticks.
Some cover the statue of the Blessed Mother with embroidered dupattas (long scarfs) and silver crowns.
The estimated million people visiting the shrine also help the village’s economy.
A weekend market offers a number of goods including Christian gifts, souvenir, toys and even tattoo parlors.
