Iraqi dafs get new beginning after Islamic State oppression

Manufacturing the 'daf', a traditional large framed tambourine, was very popular in Middle Eastern music and used in popular religious ceremonies. Until the IS stopped it. Made from sheep or goat skin leather, the instrument is an essential element in religious ceremonies. We report on the return of the daf as a cultural staple in the region.
