Middle East Asia is witnessing a conflict that is unlike any other. The biggest sector hit by it is tourism. Several airlines have cut flights, many hotels are no longer open, historic sites and national parks are closed. Tourism accounted for almost 3 percent of Israel’s GDP and around 4 percent of its employment with around 3 to 5 million tourists a year. Most of these tourists are pilgrims since Jerusalem’s top attractions are also holy sites for multiple religions. The upcoming months are a hot season for Christian pilgrims, especially from the US and Europe. But everything stands canceled now. First, it was COVID-19, and now a war. Rebuilding a sector is not easy, especially the tourism sector. Conflict zones are a strict no for all tourists, but this zone is also a holy one. Will the tourists come back to their holy land when all this ends?
