Tagalaya: The Fish Market March 14, 2018

The people of the tiny Koon Island in the Moluccas live surrounded by such rich sea life and coral that it is referred to as "fish market." Local leaders and people have moved to protect their reef's ecosystem — and by extension their community's heritage and livelihood — through establishing and patrolling a no fishing zone in the area, allowing fishing only in a "spillover zone." They are also promoting tourism as an alternative income source for themselves, according to this WWF International video.
