Thai Priest Named Undersecretary of Interreligious Dialogue Council

Pope Benedict XVI on June 21 appointed Monsignor Andrew Thanya-anan Vissanu, counselor of the Apostolic Nunctiature in Indonesia, as undersecretary of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. Monsignor Thanya-anan was born in Bangkok on Jan. 20, 1959. He was ordained a priest of Bangkok archdiocese on May 18, 1986, and earned a degree in canon law. Since entering the diplomatic service of the Holy See on July 1, 1001, he has served in Sudan, Morocco, Greece, India, Japan, Ireland and Indonesia. He speaks English, Italian and Japanese, in addition to Thai. (Holy See´s Bulletin)
