Seventy-nine priests and activists dealing with Catholic young people from 22 dioceses in Java and beyond recently gathered in Muntilan, Central Java, to deepen their spirituality. From May 9 to 14 they participated in outbound community building and live-in programs. “The live-in program aimed to open up participants’ mind so that they can better proclaim the Kingdom of God. By deepening their spirituality, it is hoped that they can better guide Catholic young people,” said Father Fransiskus Xaverius Endra Wijayanta, an organizer. Yoseph Tien from the archdiocese of Medan in North Sumatra, head of the archdiocese’s commission for youth, promised to share what he had learned with other Catholic young people in his archdiocese. “The outbound community building was very good. There was a team which dealt with a high-risk game. This enriched me,” he said. IJ14236

Help UCA News to be independent
Dear reader,
Lent is the season during which catechumens make their final preparations to be welcomed into the Church.
Each year during Lent, UCA News presents the stories of people who will join the Church in proclaiming that Jesus Christ is their Lord. The stories of how women and men who will be baptized came to believe in Christ are inspirations for all of us as we prepare to celebrate the Church's chief feast.
Help us with your donations to bring such stories of faith that make a difference in the Church and society.
A small contribution of US$5 will support us continue our mission…
