Women across Pakistan marched for their rights on International Women’s Day on March 8, with rallies held in the major cities of Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.
Women on the Islamabad march were pelted with bricks and stones by Islamist groups, while more than 5,000 attended the Lahore march despite police blocking access roads.
Speakers called for property rights, equal wages and bodily autonomy but spoke against bonded labor, honor killings and forced religious conversion to Islam.
