Young Catholic students say a camp organized for them by the Singapore Archdiocese has helped them better appreciate their faith.

"It took a really long time to allow myself to open my heart up to God but I still did it in my end, so I am very happy," Paula-Teresa Chua, 17, who will be entering Singapore Polytechnic in April, told Catholic News.

Many others said they felt "empowered," "renewed" and "assured" through their experience at the camp.

Seventy-eight young people from various parishes took part in the first Combined Polytechnic Catholic Camp organized by the archdiocese's Office for Young People, Catholic News reported.

The camp was open to young Catholic youths entering or are now in polytechnic with an aim to help them form a community and to empower them spiritually in their student life.

Help UCA News to be independent
Dear reader,
Lent is the season during which catechumens make their final preparations to be welcomed into the Church.
Each year during Lent, UCA News presents the stories of people who will join the Church in proclaiming that Jesus Christ is their Lord. The stories of how women and men who will be baptized came to believe in Christ are inspirations for all of us as we prepare to celebrate the Church's chief feast.
Help us with your donations to bring such stories of faith that make a difference in the Church and society.
A small contribution of US$5 will support us continue our mission…
