Social media CEO describes how he admires pontiff's message of mercy and tenderness
Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, said he and his wife Priscilla Chan will never forget a meeting they had with Pope Francis in The Vatican on Aug. 29.
"It was a meeting we'll never forget. You can feel his warmth and kindness, and how deeply he cares about helping people," said Zuckerberg on his Facebook page about the private audience they had with the pontiff.
"We told him how much we admire his message of mercy and tenderness, and how he's found new ways to communicate with people of every faith around the world," Zuckerberg said while describing how he also gave the pope a model of Facebook's solar-powered aircraft that will provide the internet to remote areas.
Via a statement The Holy See Press Office confirmed the meeting saying that: "They spoke about how to use communication technologies to alleviate poverty, encourage a culture of encounter, and help deliver a message of hope, especially to those people who are most disadvantaged."
