Sri Lanka is sending over 20 Pakistani nationals to their home country to complete lengthy prison sentences for drug-related offenses. Two of the prisoners are women. “This will allow them to continue their sentences in their country of origin close to family and friends, in accordance with a 2004 agreement on the transfer of offenders between Pakistan and Sri Lanka,” the Pakistan High Commission Press Attache Daud Ehtisham told ucanews.com today. Transfers are allowed in cases where sentences exceed a minimum of six months, the agreement states. Ehtisham said six were sent back at the weekend and the rest would be sent home in coming days.
