New CCBI president gets warm welcome

INDIA: People of various religions in Ranchi, eastern India gave a warm welcome to the newly-elected president of Catholic Conference of Bishops in India (CCBI) Cardinal Telesphore  Toppo. People danced and greeted him after he arrived in the city on Jan. 14. Cardinal Toppo, who is based in Ranchi, was elected to the post for the second time during the CCBI plenary which ended in Chennai on Jan.12. The CCBI is the conference for the Latin-rite bishops in India. IE12866.1636
