INDIA: A Marian grotto has become a major pilgrim center in a tribal dominated diocese in Madhya Pradesh state, central India. More than 20,000 people yesterday celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Bhil Desh (land of Bill tribe) in Panchkui, a parish in Jhabua diocese. Local parish priest Father John Tahir, said the grotto prayer box gets thousands of slips expressing gratitude for favors received. Diocesan public relations officer Father P. A. Thomas said the shrine’s popularity has increased over the years. “It is evident from the six-kilometer procession on Sunday,” he said. The shrine celebrates its annual feast every second Sunday in February. IC13279.1641
