INDONESIA: Lay Catholic community heads in Central Java have discovered that serving their neighbors from different religious background helps their Catholic faith. “After serving as head of a neighborhood community, I found that this task helps my Catholic faith,” Fransiskus De Sales Pramono told participants during a recollection for Catholic neighborhood community heads on Jan. 23 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Tegal. Forty lay Catholics from seven parishes of Purwokerto diocese attended the program. “The face of the Catholic Church is not about fancy church buildings but how you interact with and serve your neighbor,” said Fransiskus Asisi Agus Wahyudi from Purwokerto diocese’s Commission for Laity.
