INDONESIA: The Solidarity of Asian People’s Advocacy Task Force on ASEAN and Human Rights has urged Indonesia to play a significant role in the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) in promoting and protecting the rights of people within the grouping of 10 countries. “It has been more than one year since the establishment of the AICHR. Yet, until today, this human rights body cannot operate effectively due to the lack of resources,” the solidarity said in yesterday’s press release. It said they have high expectation for Indonesia’s active role since the country is the Chair of ASEAN 2011. IJ12740.1635
