PHILIPPINES: Christ the King College (CKC) which is the pioneer Catholic educational institution in the central Philippine province of Samar has recently reopened its museum to the public. The museum, named after the late Father Cantius J. Kobak of the Order of Friars Minor, is the only public museum in the Eastern Visayas region. It houses old manuscripts dating back to the 17th Century, ancient burial jars, human bones and artifacts recovered from archeological expeditions led five decades ago by Father Kobak, an American Franciscan missionary. PMIn 1969, the Christ the King College Archeological Museum was opened for public viewing but was closed in 2005 when the building was renovated. PV13177.1640

Help UCA News to be independent
Dear reader,
Lent is the season during which catechumens make their final preparations to be welcomed into the Church.
Each year during Lent, UCA News presents the stories of people who will join the Church in proclaiming that Jesus Christ is their Lord. The stories of how women and men who will be baptized came to believe in Christ are inspirations for all of us as we prepare to celebrate the Church's chief feast.
Help us with your donations to bring such stories of faith that make a difference in the Church and society.
A small contribution of US$5 will support us continue our mission…
