The month of May has become synonymous with fiestas or feasts in the predominantly Catholic Philippines. The festivities mostly coincide with the day of the patron saint of a particular place, many of which fall on the month of May. The celebration has taken root in the country since the arrival of Christianity about 500 years ago.
