St. Anthony of Padua shrine in Panjora village in Gazipur district of Bangladesh is the most popular Catholic shrine in the Muslim-majority country.
The devotion to St. Anthony at Panjora has been going on uninterrupted for centuries. Many people believe a small statue preserved in a chapel has miraculous powers. Thousands of people, both Christians and non-Christians, flock to the shrine to make wishes.
On the annual pilgrimage day on Feb. 7, more than 70,000 devotees visited the shrine to pray and pay respects to the Portuguese saint.
