Vietnamese martyrs remembered June 21, 2018

Catholics across Vietnam marked the 30th anniversary of the canonization of 117 Vietnamese Martyrs on June 19.

Tens of thousands of people in traditional clothes attended special ceremonies, sang hymns, danced, said prayers, offered incense and marched in procession at historic church sites where martyrs were killed or where they were from.

Sites also contained martyrs' relics and things used to torture them before their death.

A jubilee year to mark the canonization will conclude Nov. 24, the feast of Vietnamese Martyrs.
