Flooding brings chaos to southern Nepal

Heavy rains have caused landslides and flooding in parts of Nepal’s southern Terai region.

Reports say that at least 117 people have been killed and 80 are injured while 38 are remain missing.

At least 22,670 families have been displaced and as nearly as many houses have been destroyed while 41,343 were partially destroyed.

People displaced by the disasters are either staying with relatives or in camps.

Many need food and other aid, but humanitarian agencies say they are being hampered by inefficient official procedures.

The government has announced it will give financial compensation to families who has lost relatives to either floods or landslides.

Government reports say that it has deployed 41,204 security personnel who have rescued 3,366 people.
