Catholics build up Christmas mood in Vietnam

Catholics in Vietnam decorate their houses, churches, and streets during the Christmas season.

They erect big nativity scenes, giving a Vietnamese style to Christmas trees, and statues of the Magi. Streets are also decorated with stars, lights, and other Christmas accessories.
Nativity scenes are also built on streets and at houses.

Churches are busy with people lining up for confession as a preparation for the feat. They also busy themselves practicing hymns, dances and plays for Christmas Eve gatherings in each parish.

Although Christmas is not a national holiday, the preparations of seven million Catholics for the feast creates the atmosphere of Christmas in the communist country of 96 million people.
