The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Bangladesh (CBCB) celebrated its golden jubilee with daylong programs in Dhaka on May 27. The morning program, besides the inaugural meeting, included a seminar. In the afternoon, thousands gathered with the bishops for a Mass inside the Holy Rosary Church, the country’s largest parish having more than 17,000 members. The conference was formed in 1971 soon after Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan. It completed 50 years in 2021 but celebrations were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
