Adoring the Blessed Sacrament in Vietnam  October 21, 2018

Eucharist adoration is a long-established tradition in dioceses in northern Vietnam. Parishes take turns organizing annual Eucharist adoration events which have become religious festivals for local Catholics.

Catholics clean villages and decorate churches with flowers, flags and lights. Groups take turns to adore the Blessed Sacrament for hours at churches, and enjoy parties.

Eucharist adoration is an opportunity for people to visit one another, invite relatives and friends. Those who live elsewhere because of their work return to their home villages on that day.

They march in processions following the Eucharist around churches or villages. They pray for community peace, family needs, and local church development.
