~ Pope Francis said in his homily of the Mass at the Vatican on March 14, formally
opening the yearlong celebrations marking the 500th anniversary of Catholicism’s
arrival in the Philippines.

Bishop Thomas Bhalerao, S.J. was born on Feb. 1, 1933 in Sangamner. He was ordained a priest of Society of Jesus on March 27, 1965. Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Nashik on May 15, 1987. His episcopal ordination took place on Aug. 23, 1987. He resigned on March 31, 2007.
