Bishop Silvester San was born in Mauponggo, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, on Aug. 14, 1961. He was ordained a priest on July 29, 1988. He was appointed Bishop of Denpasar on Nov. 22, 2008. His episcopal ordination was on Feb. 19, 2009. Bishop San's motto is Deus incrementum dedit (God has given increase). He speaks Bahasa Indonesia and Nagekeo, a local language.

On 11th Oct 2017, he was appointed as the Apostolic Administrator of Ruteng.
