Capuchin Bishop Ludovikus Simanullang was born in Sogar Barus, Central Tapanuli, on April 23, 1955. He was ordained a priest on July 10, 1983. He was appointed bishop of Sibolga on March 14, 2007. His episcopal ordination was on May 20, 2007. Bishop Simanullang's motto is "Crux Spes Unica" (the cross is the only hope).
