Auxiliary Bishop Huu Long was born on Jan. 25, 1953 in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. From 1978 to 1982, he served in the country's communist army in a division stationed in Quang Nam province. After leaving the army, he began his religious studies, and was ordained priest on Dec. 29, 1990. He served as vicar in the parishes of Tam Ky, Lâm Hà and Tra Kieu. He earned his degree in Canon Law and was eventually appointed professor of Canon Law, Church History and Catechism at the Major Seminary in Hue, where he became the rector in 2011. He was named auxiliary bishop on June 15,2013 and ordained bishop on Sept.6, 2013.
