Bishop Alberto Ricardo da Silva was born in Aileu on April 24, 1943. He was ordained a priest on Aug. 15, 1972. Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Dili on Feb. 27, 2004. His episcopal ordination was on May 2, 2004. Bishop Ricardo da Silva's motto is Servus Verbi Domini (Servant of the Word of God).
