The diocese covers 16,029 square kilometers of Khammam civil district on the banks of Godavari river. The total forest area is 47.8 percent which is the highest in the state of Andhra Pradesh.


In Khammam diocese, the population is 2,735,000 as of 2016. The main ethnic groups are Lambadis, Koyas and Konda Reddies.


The languages used in the diocesan territory are Telugu, Urdu, English, Hindi, and tribal dialects.


Per capita income is Rs 11,722 ($255). Major industry of the region is coal. The main agricultural products are rice, cotton, jowar, maize and chillies.


Telecommunication facilities are widespread throughout the district. The region has fairly good roads. It also has rail connections to all major towns.


Literacy rate in the diocesan territory is 40.06 percent.
