Archbishop Andrew Yeom Soo-jung was born on Dec. 5, 1943, in Anseong, Gyeonggi-do (province). He was ordained a priest on Dec. 8, 1970, and was appointed auxiliary bishop of Seoul on Dec. 1, 2001. His episcopal ordination was on Jan. 25, 2002.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Andrew Yeom as archbishop of Seoul on May 10, 2012. He succeeded the archbishop of Seoul and apostolic administrator of Pyongyang on June 25, 2012.

He is a member of the Episcopal Commission for Mission and Pastoral Care and Committee for the Administration of the Fund for the Laity and is president of the Committee for the Lay Apostolate and Sub Committee for Women of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea (CBCK). Also he is an auditor of the Catholic Conference of Korea (CCK).
