Bishop Paul Toppo was born on June 30, 1957, at Simdega. He was ordained priest on May 24, 1988, at Darupisa for Raigarh diocese, and appointed Bishop of Raigarh on March 23, 2006. His ordination took place on May 24, 2006. Bishop Toppo was the vicar general of Raigarh diocese before succeeding Bishop Victor Kindo, the former diocesan prelate.
