Bishop Aloysius Maryadi Sutrisnaatmaka was born in Wesi, Klaten, Central Java province, on May 18, 1953. He was ordained priest of the Congregation of the Missionaries of the Holy Family on Jan. 6, 1981. He holds a doctorate in missiology from Gregoriana University in Rome. He was appointed bishop on Jan. 23, 2001 and episcopally ordained on May 7, 2001. He now serves as a member of the presidium of the Bishops' Conference of Indonesia (KWI, Indonesian acronym), head of KWI's Commission for Mission, a member of KWI's Commission for Theology, and a consulter of the Vatican Congregation of Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
