The Holy Father appointed Father Pius Sin Hozol as auxiliary bishop of the diocese of Busan on May 22, 2021.
Bishop Hozol was born on Sept. 3, 1968, in Busan. After his primary and secondary school education, he studied philosophy and theology at the Catholic University of Gwangju, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in theology (1989-1993).
On Feb. 3, 1996, he was ordained priest for the diocese of Busan.
After ordination, he served as parish vicar of Goejeong (1996-1997) and Banyeo (1997-1998). He secured a licentiate and doctorate in sacred liturgy at the Pontifical Saint Anselm Athenaeum in Rome (1999-2008).
He subsequently served as lecturer at the College of Theology in Busan (2008-2016), member of the Commission for the Liturgy of the Bishops' Conference (CBCK) and member of the Liturgical Commission.
At Busan Catholic University, he was assistant professor (2009-2013); administrative office collaborator (2011-2013); library director (2012-2013); associate professor (2013-2016) and chaplain coordinator (2016-2019).
From 2019 he had served as president of Busan Catholic University.
