Pope Benedict XVI has appointed Bishop Lawrence Pius Dorairaj, auxiliary bishop of Madras-Mylapore, as the new bishop of Dharmapuri.
Bishop Lawrence Pius Dorairaj was born in Chennai in June 1954. He was ordained priest in December 1981 and was appointed auxiliary bishop of Madras and Mylapore in November 1998. Bishop Lawrence succeeds bishop Joseph Antony Irudayaraj SDB as bishop of Dharmapuri.
On March 9, 2020, Bishop Lawrence Pius Dorairaj was appointed apostolic administrator of Salem.
