Bishop Robert Michael Miranda was born on April 10, 1952, in Kirem in Mangalore. He was ordained priest on May 4, 1978. Pope Benedict XVI appointed him bishop of Gulbarga on June 24, 2005. He was ordained bishop on Aug. 18, 2005. Before being a bishop, he served as episcopal vicar of the Bidar Missions.
