Bishop Michael Goro Matsuura was born on Sept. 28, 1952, in Nagoya, Aichi prefecture. He was ordained priest on March 21, 1981, and was appointed auxiliary bishop of Osaka on April 19, 1999. His episcopal ordination was on July 17, 1999. On March 29, 2015 he was appointed as the bishop of Nagoya.
