Bishop Ponen Paul Kubi was born on June 29, 1956, in Dewachala village in Jalchatra parish of Mymensingh diocese. Bishop Kubi was ordained priest on Nov. 19, 1986, by Pope John Paul II in Dhaka.

He was consecrated as auxiliary bishop of Mymensingh (and titular bishop of Turris Tamalleni) on Feb. 13, 2004. He was appointed bishop of Mymensingh on July 15, 2006, and his installation took place on Sept. 1, 2006.

Bishop Kubi is the chairman of the episcopal commission for liturgy and prayer, of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Bangladesh. He also serves as the chairman of the episcopal commission for family life.
