Bishop Bernard Taiji Katsuya was born on 2nd December 1955.He was Ordained Priest on 29 Apr 1986.He was Appointed as the Bishop of Sapporo,on 22 Jun 2013.He was Ordained as Bishop of Sapporo on 14 Oct 2013.
The diocese had been vacant since the retirement of Bishop Peter Toshio Jinushi in November 2009.
