The Church in Asia lost two cardinals in less than two months this year.

Cardinal Cornelius Sim, a new cardinal in Asia and the first of Brunei, died on May 29. He was 69.

Cardinal Nicholas Cheong Jin-suk, 89, former archbishop of Seoul and president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Korea, passed away on April 27.

Peter Jin Lugang was born in 1955 in Jingang village, in the Diocese of Nanyang. He was ordained priest on December 8, 1992. Father Jin Lugang was ordained the Coadjutor Bishop of the Diocese of Nanyang in Henan Province, on December 14, 2007. He succeeded the Bishop of Nanyang in 2010, and was installed the Coadjutor Bishop of Nanyang on January 30, 2019.
