It is believed that Christianity was introduced to India by Thomas the Apostle,
who is said to have reached the Malabar Coast of Kerala in 52 AD.

Rev. Lucius Hre Kung was appointed Bishop Hakha diocese in Chin State on October 19, 2013.

The bishop was born on Feb, 4,1959 in Hnaring village of Thantlang Township.

After finishing his study in Philosophy and Theology at the National Major Seminary in Mandalay and Rangoon, he was ordained a priest in 1989, and had worked in Tedim, Hnaring and Hakha.

He was Vicar General and Parish Priest of the Cathedral in Hakha before he become bishop.

Previously part of Mandalay Archdiocese, the Hakha diocese was established on 21 November 1992
In 1993, Bishop Nicholas Mang Thang was appointed as the first Bishop of the Hakha Diocese.
