Bishop Salvadore Lobo was born on April 30, 1945, in Mangalore diocese, southern India. He was ordained priest on March 19, 1973, and served as vicar general and then administrator of Baruipur diocese before being appointed its bishop on Nov. 14, 1997. His episcopal ordination took place on Jan 29, 1998. The bishop holds no positions in national or international Church bodies.

On May 4, 2020 Bishop Lobo retired from diocese of Baruipur and appointed as apostolic administrator of diocese of Asansol.
