Bishop Pius Thomas D'Souza was born on May 4, 1954 in Agrar in Mangalore diocese. He was ordained a priest for the Lucknow diocese in 1982. He holds a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as the new bishop of Ajmer (Rajasthan state) on Nov. 3, 2012. His episcopal consecration was on Jan. 19, 2013. He succeeds Bishop Ignatius Menezes who has been on the post since 1979.
