Bishop Dau Ze was born in the village of Hpa Hping, in Shan State, Myanmar, on October 18, 1962. He attended the Salesian novitiate in Anisakan between 1983 and 1984, made his perpetual vows on May 6, 1993, in Anisakan, and ordained a priest, also in the same city, on 21 April 1996.

He served as Economer at the "Nazareth" center of Anisakan (1998-2006), as Director and Parish Priest at the same center (2006-2012), and then as person in charge of the center of Pang Way (2012-2017), and Director of the Salesian Philosophy Dept of Pyin Oo Lwin.

For the MYM Vice Province, he was a Councilor (2007-10, and again from 2015 to date), as well as a Delegate for Youth Ministry (2008-2011) and Delegate for the Missions (from 2017 to present).

His studies include a Bachelor's degree in History, awarded by the University of Yangon, Myanmar, in 1989; a specialization in the Philippines, which earned him a Diploma in Family Counseling, received in 2004 from the "Jesuit University"; and a Master in Pastoral Sociology in 2006 at the Asian Social Institute.

On October 18 2019, Holy Father Francis has appointed Rev. Lucas Jeimphaung Dau Ze, SDB, as Coadjutor Bishop. He is currently Counselor of the Mary Help of Christians Vice Province of Myanmar (MYM ) and Director of the Salesian Philosophy Department of Pyin Oo Lwin.

He succeeded as Bishop of Lashio on June 24, 2020.
