Bishop Precioso D. Cantillas, SDB, DD was born on July 3, 1953 in Langtad, Naga, Cebu. He was ordained a priest on Dec. 7, 1979, and was appointed Bishop of Cebu on May 31, 1995. His episcopal ordination was on July 12, 1995. Pope John Paul II appointed him Second Bishop of Maasin on Jan. 20, 1998. He was installed on March 10, 1998.

Currently, the bishop serves as chairman of the of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Episcopal Commission on Migrants and Itinerant People and member of the Episcopal Commission on Youth.

Bishop Cantillas speaks English, Tagalog, Cebuano, Spanish and Italian.
