Bishop Constantine Bae Ki-Hyen was born on Feb. 1, 1953, at Masan. He obtained his bachelor’s in theology and a masters in philosophy at the Catholic University of Gwanju and was ordained priest on Jan. 28, 1985, for the diocese of Masan.
He served the diocese of Masan in different capacities including as pastor of of Namhye in Kyongnam before he left in 1989 for studies in Innsbruck, Austria, and in Monaco, Germany.
On his return in 1996 he was appointed professor at the Major Seminary but after two years he left for Pastoral Ministry in the United States (Denver, Colorado) and worked there as chaplain of the local Korean community.
In 2002 he took a year of Sabbatical but in 2003 returned to Masan as Pastor of Sachen in Kyongnam. Form 2005-2008, he also worked as pastor of Ducksan in Jinhae in Masan.
In 2008 he took up Pastoral Ministry in the United States (Los Angeles, California), serving the local Korean community for six year before he took another Sabbatical leave till 2015.
In 2015 he became the vicar general and chancellor of the diocese of Masan.
