Archbishop Savio Hon Tai-fai, secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, received an honorary degree of Fu Jen Catholic University yesterday for his efforts in achieving communion of the Church in China with the universal Church. “We strive to train Chinese clergy. It is similar to the bridging function of the archbishop, whose duty is to promote dialogue and understanding between the Chinese communities and the Holy See,” said Bernard Li, Fu Jen president. He said he hoped the Vatican official can enhance diplomatic Taiwan-Holy See relations after becoming a Fu Jen member. Fu Jen is celebrating its 50years of service in Taiwan and is the only pontifical university among the Chinese communities that is under direct authority of the Vatican, said Archbishop Peter Liu Cheng-chung of Kaohsiung, chair of the broad of trustees.

Help UCA News to be independent
Dear reader,
Lent is the season during which catechumens make their final preparations to be welcomed into the Church.
Each year during Lent, UCA News presents the stories of people who will join the Church in proclaiming that Jesus Christ is their Lord. The stories of how women and men who will be baptized came to believe in Christ are inspirations for all of us as we prepare to celebrate the Church's chief feast.
Help us with your donations to bring such stories of faith that make a difference in the Church and society.
A small contribution of US$5 will support us continue our mission…
