Pope Francis has done it again.
He has surprised (and, no doubt, disappointed) many inside the church\'s euro-centric clerical caste by denying the red hat to several conservative-leaning prelates that his predecessor had specifically put in line to become cardinals.
On Oct. 9 Francis announced the names of 13 new cardinal-electors and another four who are over 80, those ineligible to vote in a conclave.
